US election: Harris leads Trump in media endorsement of news, see full list

With the US presidential election just days away, endorsements are piling up for both candidates. Despite Kamala Harris leading Donald Trump in terms of media house endorsements, several major American tabloids have refrained from endorsing any candidate in the November race. Top publications such as The Washington Post, Los Angeles Times and USA Today recently caused a stir on the Internet with their decision not to endorse either candidate. Here’s a look at who’s supporting which candidate:

Media endorsements for the 2024 US presidential election

In stark contrast to the 2016 and 2020 elections, very few media houses have endorsed a candidate in this year’s race. Harris has received more endorsements from news media publications than Trump. Major endorsers for the Democratic candidate include The New York Times, Vogue, and Rolling Stone, while the top endorsements for the Republican candidate are Maxim and the New York Post. Below is a complete list of news media endorsements for the 2024 US presidential election.

The vice president has a lead over his Republican opponent, with 55 endorsements from major news media publications. However, this is far less than in previous elections, where in 2016, more than 240 newspapers supported Hillary Clinton, with only 20 supporting Trump. Meanwhile, in 2020, 14 newspapers supported Trump and 120 supported Joe Biden.

In addition to news media publications, Trump has also received endorsements from X, formerly Twitter. With Elon Musk in his corner, the former president has seen his campaign’s social media presence grow. Recently, Pennsylvania state senator John Fetterman emphasized the importance of Trump’s endorsement of the Tesla CEO in the 2024 race.

“And now [Elon] Musk is joining him. I mean, to a lot of people, he’s Tony Stark. He is the richest man in the world. And he’s obviously, and without a doubt, a wonderful man, and he’s saying, hey, this is my guy for president. It will really make a difference,” Fetterman told The New York Times on Sunday.
