Salma Hayek is an independent woman.
The “Frida” star has been candid about her motivation to earn her own income despite her husband Francois-Henri Pinault’s multibillion-dollar family fortune.
“I support myself and many aspects of my life,” the actress said in an interview with WSJ. The magazine was published on Tuesday.
“I’m under pressure to make a certain amount of money, and I like it. And now, I decided, I want to make more.
Hayek, 58, added that she and her husband keep their finances “separate” although there is “no prior agreement on the division of assets.”
He said the French businessman, 62, admires his work ethic.
“I think he finds it sexy,” she said.
The “House of Gucci” star – who shares 17-year-old daughter Valentina with Pinault – also revealed that she is mulling over several ideas for ventures with the teenager.
According to the outlet, Hayek was born into wealth due to her father’s position as an oil executive, but by the time she was 20, he had lost his fortune.
The Mexican-born actress then moved to Los Angeles and eventually became the breadwinner for her family back home.
“That’s when I became the best version of myself,” she said.
After tying the knot with Pinault – who serves as the CEO of luxury retail group Kering – Hayek recalled the people around her who always wanted to talk money.
“For me, the thrill of having a lot of money was that I didn’t have to think about money, and it turned out that all people wanted to do was talk to me about money,” Hayek said. Hayek said.
The “Eternals” star also noticed that other rich people only wanted to be friends with her because of her bank account.
“Strangers are coming up to me who aren’t even friends, but they think we should be friends because they’re rich too,” she said.
Hayek and Pinault celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary earlier this year on April 25.
The actress launched the milestone on Instagram with a carousel of photos from her special day.
“There are no words to describe the joy of finding your soul mate,” he wrote in the caption.
“To all of you who found it, never take it for granted, to all of you who didn’t, never miss one of the best days of my life #tbt.”
