Babies in a Los Angeles neonatal intensive care unit dressed up in adorable costumes based on children’s book characters to celebrate Halloween in style.
The fun-sized costumes, designed with Velcro fasteners to allow parents to dress their children safely and easily, are handcrafted by a group of volunteers at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. .
Parents love the tradition, according to Bevan Meredith, associate director of the neonatal intensive care unit.
“It allows them to celebrate their child’s first Halloween,” Meredith said. “They take the costumes home to show their kids how grown up they are.”
The spooky line-up included a tiger, Supergirl, a Dr. Seuss character and even a tiny gymnast with a medal.
“I’m honestly trying to cry,” said Mary Dorning, the NICU mom. “Making the holidays as special as being in the NICU is unforgettable. It’s something we’ll cherish forever.”
