An estimated 1,000 goblins, ghouls and other costumed characters and their families attended the Pine Creek Township Recreation Committee’s Halloween in the Park event at Woolrich Park on Saturday, Oct. 26, according to organizers. .

This is the second year in a row of the free annual Halloween event that brings the community together for holiday favorites, including trunk or treat, hayrides, costume contest, games, crafts, snacks and drinks.

As part of the event, the entertainment committee organized a costume competition for all ages, with six different categories.

Kellyn Krepp, vice chair of the entertainment committee, was impressed with the turnout. “We had 165 entries in the costume contest, which was more than last year,” Krepp said.

Dressed as astronauts, Dorothy, Chucky, Scooby-Doo, Batman, Mario and Beetlejuice, the toddlers were the real stars of the pageant.

Entertainment Committee Chair Taryn Sarr added, “This year’s hayride included a trip to the township’s ball fields where three different Halloween scenes were set up. We used two tractors and wagons this year because we Hardly able to sustain just one tractor last year, our goal is to have additional sponsors set the scene for next year’s wagon ride.

“This year’s event would not have been possible without the event sponsors and especially the grant from the Clinton County Community Foundation,” Saar said.

The next event scheduled at the park is Woolrich Wonderland on Dec. 7, featuring a community tree lighting, caroling and a special visit from Santa in a Woolrich Volunteer Fire Company truck.
